Path surveying is a very specific branch belonging to the surveying and mapping profession. The origins of path surveying and Pathfinder Surveys started in the early 1960’s with Collins Radio and Arthur Collins; one of the pioneers of microwave technology. The problem then, as it is today, was to develop a system to accurately determine path critical point elevations, horizontal clearances, path profiles and other information. To do this Collins Radio, later called Rockwell Collins, and now Alcatel, relied on land surveyors and surveying techniques to supply their design engineers with the accurate data needed to design reliable microwave links. Based in New Mexico, Pathfinder Surveys’ parent company, Dawson Surveys Inc., is a full service land survey company that was founded in 1970 in 100 Mile House, British Columbia and later moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1980. We have 4 professional surveyors on staff licensed in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. psi pathfinder path surveys microwave surveying santa fe nm new mexico

The Surveyors  All path surveyors who are employed by Pathfinder are either licensed land surveyors or surveyors who have spent many years in the surveying and mapping industry before moving into path surveying. The methodology, instrumentation and experience of all our path surveyors is based on a solid knowledge of many of those techniques employed within the surveying and mapping industry. All Dawson Surveys Inc. and Pathfinder surveyors and technicians are proficient in the different aspects of the office calculations and drafting through the use of various versions of AutoCAD programs. This enables us to satisfy the requirements of our clients at all times under all situations.Pathfinder Surveys’ employees have successfully completed the COMTRAIN LLC Tower Climbing Safety & Rescue course. Pathfinder uses the Fisk Descender Rescue System as well as the IDPetzl Self Braking Belay Descender System for tower rescue emergencies. Each employee is trained to use these rescue systems. The surveyors are thus compliant with all OSHA regulations and certified with American Tower (ATC), Crown Castle and Alcatel to enable climbing on towers.
